Sammy Kioko’s Story: Begging to Be Paid His Debt

By Purity Jelagat

Comedian and MC Sammy Kioko is demanding Machakos County Government KSh 19 million owed to him for unpaid services.

Kioko, who is well known on social media, publicly shared his frustrations on 10th November 2025 saying, he worked for the county government nearly two years ago after winning a tender to supply uniforms which he did to completion.

He claims to have visited various county officials to help him reach out to Governor Wavinya Ndeti without success. That’s when he began appealing to other public figures including leaders outside Machakos County, to intervene for him.

One day, Kioko took to social media to express his frustration, requesting a meeting with the governor. However, his post attracted both sympathy and criticism with some accusing him of tarnishing the governor’s reputation.

He then reportedly tried to camp outside the Machakos County Governor’s Office for hours, hoping to meet Governor Ndeti and resolve the issue, but was denied access.

It further emerged that the county procurement official claimed there was no official record of the tender involving Kioko, further intensifying the dispute.

The situation took a toll on Kioko, forcing him to sell his car. He described it as a blessing for 8 years, adding that even his business had to close down because he could no longer afford basic expenses , not even KSh 5,000. He said all he had wanted was to help his sick sister.

During, Obinna’s show, Kioko shared his story, which deeply moved the host, Oga Obinna. Touched by Kioko’s struggles, Obinna decided to step in and seek help on his behalf. He reached out to Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper Party leader, to appeal for assistance.

However, Obinna’s efforts were quickly dismissed by Kalonzo’s communication team, who warned him against contacting them.

“Hi Obinna, the communication team is kindly asking you to stop calling SKM, either online or offline. They say you are crossing the line,” read a message reportedly sent to Obinna by Kalonzo’s team.

Despite the warning, Obinna did not stop. He went ahead and contacted former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, whose response was more encouraging. Sonko expressed willingness to assist Kioko and arranged to meet him the following day, Tuesday, November 10, 2025.

“I really respect the governor, so let Kioko come tomorrow morning so that we can contact the governor. You never know, maybe the county is broke. But we will try to find a way through, even if it means getting payment in installments,” Sonko said.

Despite the financial and emotional struggles, Kioko remains hopeful that justice will be served. He says his experience has taught him resilience and the importance of speaking up when things go wrong.
